The defoamer is a chemical additive that reduces and hinders the formation of foams in industrial processes of liquids. The terms defoamer and defoamer are often used interchangeably. Commonly used reagents are insoluble oils, polydimethylsiloxanes and other siloxanes, certain alcohols, stearates and diols. Mineral oil defoamer is based on oil carrier. The oil may be mineral oil, vegetable oil, white oil or any other oil insoluble in the foaming medium other than silicone oil. Mineral oil defoamer also contains wax and/or hydrophobic silica to improve performance. Typical waxes are ethylene distearamide (EBS), paraffin wax, ester wax, and fatty alcohol wax. These products may also contain surfactants to improve emulsification and diffusion in the foaming medium.
Mineral oil defoamer Mineral oil defoamer is also a kind of more important defoamer, which is mainly used in ink, adhesive, coating and so on. The basic components of mineral oil type defoamer are mineral oil, hydrophobic particles and emulsifier. The basic preparation process is to mix mineral oil and hydrophobic particles at high temperatures in order to facilitate the dispersion of hydrophobic particles in mineral oil, recover from "secondary aggregation" to "primary aggregation ", and then add emulsifier at low temperature to achieve the purpose of self-emulsification and dispersion of defoamer in water. However, according to different industries and different processes, sometimes it is necessary to have good dispersability of defoamer, and sometimes it is not necessary to have good dispersability of defoamer. This is because these industries themselves use a large number of dispersants, wetting agents and other surfactants, they can also disperse the defoamer, play the best role of the defoamer.
