Polysiloxane defoamer is usually composed of two main components of polysiloxane and silicon dioxide. The defoamer based on polydimethylsiloxane is an ideal defoamer in the defoamer system, because it is insoluble in water and difficult to emulsify. The foaming inhibition performance of pure polydimethylsiloxane is poor and slow, and the defoamer effect needs to be strengthened by silica particles, which are carried by silicone oil to the air-water interface of the foam and enter the bubble liquid film. Due to its hydrophobicity, the contact Angle between the silica particles and the surfactant foam droplets is greater than 90°, thus forcing the foaming liquid to be displaced from the surface of the solid hydrophobic particles.
It causes the local drainage of the foam to burst rapidly, so that, due to the synergistic effect, the two components produce a good defoaming effect.
